Ok…Ok…Ok…I didn’t actually go to Order Up the last few times I ate their food, but I love their food.
Rick and I first visited Order Up a couple of years ago when we were over in the Alamo Heights Area and were hungry. We decided to stop somewhere new. I ordered a hamburger and chips and salsa. I could have just had the chips and salsa. The chips were warm and homemade, the salsa was perfection. Not overly spicy for my gringa tongue, but with a little bite. They do have a very spicy green salsa for the more adventurous palettes.
We didn’t return to the restaurant until I got to choose the restaurant of my choice for my birthday this year. I ordered the same thing and it was delicious again. I did not share my chips generously!
Let me offer a disclaimer her. I am Californian, my ideal Sunday morning breakfast is a Bagel with some schmear and Starbucks. I am not a south-Texan native, and my palette does not really like breakfast tacos…tacos are for dinner Dude! But I am mainly reviewing Order-Up’s take-out breakfasts. I am not normally a breakfast taco person, nor am I an eating breakfast out person, but it was provided for me and I must rave again. I tried a breakfast taco that had jack cheese, perfect eggs, and the homemade chips. I about jumped for joy at the delicious combination.
They also make homemade Cinnamon Rolls, freshly made and honestly, excluding my mothers, the best cinnamon rolls I have ever eaten. You have the choice of vanilla and orange frosting, I loved both. The bread is sweet a doughy while the frosting is perfectly proportioned and delicious. My only complaint was our host divided them into fourths and I was obliged to only eat a fourth of the enormous roll. Seriously people, these are worthy of all the calories you are ingesting.
If you check out Order-Up’s Website you will also note a charming feature, you can request music for them to play as part of their stores background entertainment. They have a whole philosophical statement about it being like an i-pod, sweet and very thoughtful.
What is even better is that I have eaten their food for a total of 4 times and each time it was delicious. The only danger is over cooked hamburgers, be careful to warn them if you don’t like them well-done. Fuddruckers is right across the parking lot and I can’t imagine choosing Fuddruckers over Order-Up. Fabulous, independent, wonderful flavors…patronize them!
They're near work! I'm going to have to give them a try.
